Doula Services

Shifra and Puah of Crown Heights, just like the original Shifra and Puah who helped Jewish women give birth in Mitzrayim, is now partially subsidizing doula services for women who need them. A doula provides emotional and physical support during labor and birth and is attentive to the mother's individual needs throughout the experience.

Shifra and Puah’s Doula Program is specifically designed to support women who would otherwise not be able to afford a doula. Many of the doulas participating in this program generously offer reduced rates to help make doula support more accessible.

Shifra & Puah subsidizes a portion of the doula fee, with the mother's participation typically ranging from $300–$500, depending on the doula's experience.

You can find the list of our participating doulas below, along with information about each doula's experience. You may choose the doula who feels like the best fit for you, contact her directly, and check her availability for your due date. Once you have selected a doula, you will continue working with her directly just as any regular client would. We are happy to help guide you through the process if needed.

We strongly encourage mothers to submit their application at least two months before their estimated due date. Applying early gives you the best opportunity to connect with the doula of your choice and confirm her availability. While we will do our best to assist every applicant, we cannot guarantee doula availability for applications submitted less than two months before the estimated due date.
